How to create your own blog account :
A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.


Instructions Difficulty: Moderate

• Go to www.blogger.com:
• Scroll down to “Create a blog in 3 easy steps.”
• Click on the orange arrow.
  
• Create a Google Account (If you already have an account with Google (e.g.,
• gmail), click on “sign in first”) :
• Enter the required information (Email address, Password, Display name…)
• Click on the orange arrow
  
• Choose a title for your blog (you can change it later) and an address for your blog. For example:
• Title : mylifeintoronto
• Address : http://mylifeintoronto.blogspot.com
• Click on the orange arrow
  
• Choose a template (your blog design). You can always change it later.
• Start posting. Once you see the screen “your blog has been created”, click on the orange arrow to go to your blog.
• How to post, edit and configure your blog :
• In order to post, you need to open your dashboard. There, you’ll find 3 folders (Posting, Settings, Template).
• Posting
• This is the folder where you write (click on “Create”) or edit (“Edit Posts”) your entries.
• Make sure you click on the orange button “Publish” in order to publish your entry on your blog.
• If you click on “Save as Draft” your entry will be stored in your account, but it will not appear on your blog.
  
• Editing you posts.
• In order to make corrections to your entries, go to “Edit Posts” and click on the entry you want to edit.
• How to add link, edit personal information, add widgets, and personalize your blog.
  
• Adding Page Elements.
• Go to the “Template” tab and click on the “Page Elements” subheading.
• Click on “Add a Page Element” and choose the page elements you want to add.
  
• Creating a Link List.
• Click on “Link List” to add a link of your favourite people, blogs, or web sites.
• In the ”title” field, write My Link List.
• In the “New Site URL” type in the URL address of a blog/website you want to create a link to.
• In the “New Site Name” type in the name of the blog/website.
  
• Personalize your blog. You can change the colours on your blog.
• Click “Fonts and Colours”
• Choose on the left what you want to change (“text colour” or “page background colour”)
• Choose a colour from the chart in the middle.

• Visit the Netvibes website : www.netvibes.com/
• In the top right corner of the screen click on the “sign in” link
• To create a new account click on “Sign up”. You will need a valid email address to sign up for a new account. This will be your login.
• To create you account type in your email address and a password for your netvibes page. Make sure the password is secure and one that you will remember.
• When you first create your account and login you will see the default content for Netvibes. Before you add your own content you need to delete the default content :
• When you roll over the title bar of the module box, the content editing options should appear in the top right corner of the box.
• Click on the grey X to delete the module
  
• Now that you have cleared the default content from your page you are ready to customize it :
• Before you add a RSS feed to your page you will need to get the URL from your favourite blog or web page.
• In the URL (web address) browser field you will notice this orange icon . This rss icon indicates that you can get the RSS feed for this site.
• Click once on this icon
• You will be transferred to a new page. On the new page copy the web address (URL). You will copy it by highlighting the address and pressing CTRL + C. (or Edit> Copy)You are going to paste this into your Netvibes page
  
• Go back to the window displaying your Netvibes page.
• Click on the link Add content link in the upper left corner.
• A new menu pane will appear. Click on “Add a feed”.
• A new window will appear. Click in the field next to the Add Feed button and paste your URL by pressing on CTRL +V.
• Click on the “Add feed” button. Netvibes will then verify the feed and it will show up below the area you pasted the URL.. Once the feed is verified you can click on the Feed title bar and then click on “Add To My Page” button.
  
• A new box will appear on your page displaying the most recent additions to your favourite website
  
• You can repeat the steps for this activity to add the feeds from others website and blog sources

• Sign into LinkedIn using your email address and proprietary password.
• Enter your personal and professional information and clic "Join LinkedIn"
• Click on the "Profile" tab to see a representation of your public and private profile.
• Click on the "Edit" link to the right of each feature on your general profile to put that particular feature. Methodically edit each category including Summary, Experience and Education by working down the page.
• Click on "Add Photo" to add a photo to your profile
• Choose the "Add Position" link to get more of your employment or entrepreneurial information into your LinkedIn profile. Adding positions increases the "completion" of your profile and helps bulk up your status on LinkedIn.
• Invite your top contacts. You will only need their names and their email addresses.
• Fill in each box provided for you with the first and last name and the email address of the person you are inviting to join your network.
• Review your information by pressing the "Edit/Preview Invitation Text" button.
• Finalize your invitation by clicking the "Send Invitation(s)" button.

• Create your account
• Visit the Facebook Web site : www.facebook.com
• Begin with a valid email address. This is required to create a Facebook profile. Click the "Sign Up" button, and enter the required information.
• Click "Edit Profile" in the top left-hand corner of the next screen.
• Enter your basic information, such as name, sex, marital status, birthday... Click "Save."
• Move on to the contact information page. You can add your phone number, cell number, mailing and email addresses in this section.
• Add your personal information. This is where you can add a list of your favorite books, movies, interests, hobbies, TV shows. Click "Save" when you are done.
• Personalize your Facebook profile further by adding a photo of yourself to your homepage. You can also add an entire photo album to share with other Facebook users.
• Send out Friends requests to start building your Facebook network.
• Set your Profile's Privacy Level
• Proceed to the "My Privacy" section. You will be able to choose the level of privacy for almost every Facebook function and feature.
• Click on "Edit Settings" for your Profile. Here you can determine exactly who can see your profile and contact information.
• Select from "Some of my networks and all my friends" if you only want one or more of your networks to have access to your information. This is handy if you want to block access to your regional network, which is open to almost anybody. Just check the box for each network or people groups you want to have access to your profile.
• Establish a limited profile. From the "My Privacy" page, decide what information you want on your limited profile by clicking "Edit Limited Profile." After you create this second profile, you can choose who sees the full version and who sees the limited one.
